A gentle pause when stress builds
A short breathing and noticing practice you can try during a busy day.
Stress can make everything feel urgent. Taking a brief pause will not solve every problem, but it can give you a moment to notice what is happening before you choose your next step.
If it feels comfortable, place both feet on the floor and let your shoulders soften. Notice your breathing without trying to force it. You might breathe in gently, then breathe out a little more slowly. Continue for a minute or two, or stop sooner if the exercise does not feel helpful.
Look around and name a few things you can see or hear. Then ask yourself: what is one manageable thing I need right now? It could be a glass of water, a short break, or a message to someone you trust. If stress keeps disrupting your day, a therapist or another health professional can help you explore more support.
