Small habits that support everyday wellbeing

Simple ideas for connection, movement, learning, noticing, and giving.

Looking after your wellbeing does not require a perfect routine. The NHS describes five everyday areas that may help: connect with other people, be active, learn something new, give to others, and pay attention to the present moment. You could start with one small action that suits your circumstances. Send a message to a friend, take a short walk, try a new recipe, offer a kind word, or pause to notice the sounds around you. Small actions can fit into an ordinary day, and you can choose what feels realistic. Notice how an activity feels rather than turning it into another task to complete. If a habit is not useful, try a different one. These ideas can sit alongside counseling or other care; they do not replace support when you need it.
